About our Roots
The Church of Christ, as a denomination, is considered to be evangelical protestants. The movement originated in the United States in the early 1800's and is generally attributed to Alexander Campbell as the founding father, although members consider the movement to be a direct revival of the Christian Church established in the New Testament during the first century after Jesus' death and resurrection.
One of the distinguishing elements of the Church of Christ is the absence of a governing body or worldly doctrinal authority outside of the walls of each individual congregation. The Church places their leadership in their selected elders, ministers, and deacons as described in 1 Timothy chapter 3. They believe in the authority of the Bible alone as the direct Word of God and no other doctrine can change or subvert that authority. But the Church will still partner with other congregations and hold communion together in fellowship with one another, despite no centralized governing body existing.

This congregation's History
The Greeley Church of Christ was born in 19-- when a small group came together to plant the roots for the congregation. Originally they met downtown in Greeley but some of the leadership were planning ahead, anticipating the population of the city to grow westward, and purchased the current property where the church is located while the entire area was still farmland. As Greeley grew, plans were made for our current building and that was completed in 1996 (?). At the time, the new building was located on the far west side of the city, and the congregation was renamed Westview Church of Christ. Since that time, Greeley's westward growth has passed us and we are now closer to being in the center of the city. But however the world moves around us, we will continue to be faithful to the ministry God calls us to!
Our future plans
We understand the plans for our future are not our own, but God will lead this congregation to where He desires and it is our duty to follow him. As our purpose statement says: From here to heaven, following God wherever He leads us.
We are looking towards the ever-growing conflict of living as Christians in this world, but not being of the world. As the landscapes of civilization change, we will do our best to function within it. We see how evil manages to take advantage of the world and all that it offers, but God can use all things for good and for His glory. We follow Him faithfully, and even if the packaging may change over time, God's values and what He calls His children to will never change or be shaken from the Rock that is Jesus Christ which this church is built on!
